Contest Announcement: Skirting the Issue

Inspired by Kenn Wislander's energy and creativity in putting together his Angry Bunny contests, I am now hosting one of my own. The prize is a custom-designed, hand-sewn and hand-painted skirt; a sustainable and earth-friendly original created from one or more vintage tees.

Who can enter

This contest is open to any citizen on the planet, Earth, who is also an active member of the VOX community.
***It is not necessary that you be among my neighbors but it would be nice.

What's a contest without Rules and Regs

• You must be an active member of the VOX community
• You must provide your name, address, phone number, size measurements, and appropriate specs at time of entry
• You must agree to provide a photo of yourself (wearing your new skirt) within 10 days of receipt
• You must agree to publication of your photo by studio524.

*** If you are male and you are not into wearing skirts you may still enter on behalf of a significant other. In this case, you must be an active member of the VOX community. You must agree to provide all contact information and your SO's correct measurements and specs. You & Your SO must agree to provide a photo of her wearing her new skirt, as above, and agree to publication of this photo by studio524.
       

When to enter

We celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 22, 2007. Due to the sustainable, earth-friendly nature of the prize, I think it only fitting to start the celebration early. Therefore, entries to this contest will be accepted between Friday, April 20, 2007 and midnight on Monday, April 30, 2007.

Where to enter

Send your name, address, phone number, email address, and size specs via the vox messaging system.

How to enter 

• Insert the phrase, Skirting the Issue Contest Entry, in the subject line of your message.
• Include your complete contact information (See "Where to enter" above) 
• Specify your correct measurements for waist, hip and length.
  *** If you need help, a guide for measuring properly has been posted as an amendment to this contest.
• Choose your design: Draw String or Roll Top.
• Choose your fit: Loose and comfy or fitted and butt hugging.
• Indicate your preferred color palette - up to 3 individual hues, tints, or shades.
• Include a short statement and agree to provide photos of you in your new skirt.
• You must also agree to publication of your photos on studio524.vox.com.

How to win

• Each entrant will receive a contest number in response to their entry message.
• An online random number generator will be used to determine the winning the number.
• A screenshot of the random number generation will be posted on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 12:00 noon, EDST. A link to the winner's VOX page will also be posted. I will also be contacting the winner directly by phone and/or VOX message and/or email to confirm their measurements, specs, design, fit and color choices.
• Odds of winning are based on the number of entries received.

Caveat

• I cannot be held accountable if you measure incorrectly. If you are uncomfortable using a measuring tape please have someone help you. A guide has been posted as an amendment to this announcement to ensure that you will measure properly.
  
• These garments are sewn and painted by hand. Please do not expect machine precision.
  
• Colors will be swatched out to the winner. Please allow me a certain width of freedom in your color specification. Once again, I mix my paint by hand and cannot always match with Pantone accuracy.
  
• The prize winner's garment will be created as a custom work and, as such, will take some time. Please allow 10-14 days for your prize to be created, cured, and properly prepared. It will be shipped to you without delay and photos of the work in progress will be shared along the way. 
  
• A certain amount of care will be necessary to maintain your garment. Your garment will be wash tested after it is sewn and painted but please keep the following points in mind:
  * Machine washing is never recommended. Hand-washing is always best.
  * Machine drying on a low - medium heat setting will help to maintain the fit and durability of the design.
  * If you choose to iron your skirt please do so with great care. Iron only on the reverse of the garment and on the lowest heat setting to attain the desired result.
  
• Please be sure that you read all of the rules, regulations and requirements. I need all of this info in order to actually create the prize for the winner and I don't want to have to track anyone down at the end of the contest. Any - and all - incomplete entries will be discarded

Art Detail:
This artwork was clipped from a skirt created exclusively for Margaux of MargauxINC.  The art for the prize winner's skirt will be  similar to this issue but will not be exactly as illustrated.  There are several reasons for this.
1) I am an artist and not much of a technician
2) Each one is intended to be original and not a carbon copy of any other design.
3) These are machine generated fonts. The prize winner's design will be hand lettered.
